TRUMPET SHALL SOUND
SLAUGHTERING OF SACRED DOCTRINAL COWS
How sad it is that surrounding one of the most glorious and dramatic events in human history, so much confusion has built up and so much error has become accepted, and received teaching. Not surprisingly, the lion’s footprint and dragon’s breath can be detected here. Over the next few hundred words, a number of “sacred doctrinal cows” will be slaughtered, humanely, we trust. May we offer our readers the following insights?
A. THE TRUMPET IS THE PRELUDE TO RAPTURE
As the rapture and resurrection are considered in our next topic, we will detain ourselves no longer with these glorious events.
B. THE TRUMPET IS DESCRIBED AS THE “LAST” TRUMPET
This glorious scripture confirms this incontrovertible truth:
CORINTHIANS 15 v 51 – 52
I shew you a mystery; We shall not all
sleep, but we shall all be changed,
In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump; for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
It is “Kindergarten” simple, but of vital importance to understand. For a trumpet to be the “last trumpet”, it must be the final trumpet in a series of trumpets. There is but one, and only one series of trumpets having any end-time significance, and that series of trumpets is found exactly where it would be expected. It is found in the most apocalyptic of books, John’s Patmos Revelation.
C. FEATURES OF THE LAST, SEVENTH TRUMPET
For the last, seventh trumpet in the book of Revelation to be incontrovertibly the trumpet spoken of so much elsewhere in the scriptures, there would have to be conclusive evidence contained in them.
THE TRUMPETER ANGEL BEGINS TO SOUND
10 v 7
But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound (HIS TRUMPET), the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.
This evidence is conclusive in itself, but for good measure others are offered. The trumpeter angel BEGINS to sound, indicating that the seventh trumpet occupies a period of time. The fifth trumpet period is more specific, being five months. The seventh trumpet is in two distinct parts in Revelation Chapters Ten and Eleven. These parts are separated by the parenthesis detailing the three and a half year period of the ministry of the two witnesses.
MYSTERY OF GOD FINISHED: WHAT MYSTERY?
3 v 3, 5 – 6
that by revelation he
made known unto me the mystery;
in other ages was not made known unto
the sons of men, as it is now revealed
unto his holy apostles and prophets by
the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and
of the same body, and partakers of his
promise in Christ by the gospel:
The mystery hidden in all other ages is a mystery no longer and the revelation is very telling indeed. It is that the Gentiles would become fellow heirs with God’s chosen people, the Jews, and become partakers of the promises of God through Christ. Not, of course, to replace the Jews whose full restoration is yet to come when returning Messiah Jesus is recognised as their own. Also, not every Gentile is embraced, but only those whom, through the new birth, have become part of the true Church built by the Lord Jesus.
WILL BUILD MY CHURCH
16 v 18
…I will build my church and the
gates of hell shall not prevail against
So the Lord Jesus will build His church through the very instrument of His construction, which is the church that has been entrusted with the “gospel”. In His end-time account in MATTHEW Twenty four, the Lord Jesus indicates when the end would come, when all the nations in all the world have heard the gospel.
24 v 14
this gospel of the kingdom shall be
preached in all the world for a witness
unto all nations; and then shall the end
What the church has left incompleted is brought to a conclusion by an angel commissioned specifically for this unique and vital task.
14 v 6
And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,
So we reiterate. The glorious construction of the Church has been completed. Not one solitary brick missing. Combining all the scriptures we have read, this completion can only be as the Lord Jesus said Himself, IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE TRIBULATION when the HARVEST has been reaped from the clouds, when the TRUMPET has sounded and the RAPTURE AND RESURRECTION have taken place.
So it has to be Q.E.D, Quod Erat Demonstratum, what was to be demonstrated. Surely enough EVIDENCE to convince all who truly take the Word of God as the basis for all doctrine, that the seventh, last trumpet of John’s Patmos Revelation is the last trumpet spoken of in many other scriptures. However, a reminder that this is only the beginning (when the seventh angel begins to sound) we continue to present the EVIDENCE that the seventh trumpet of Revelation Chapters Ten and Eleven is indeed the last trumpet of God.
WORLD’S KINGDOMS ARE BECOME THOSE OF
THE TRIUNE GODHEAD
11 v 15
the seventh angel sounded; and there
were great voices in heaven, saying, The
kingdoms of this world are become the
kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ;…
This glorious affirmation can only be when all other Kingdoms, including that of Antichrist, are subjugated and under the sway of returning Messiah Jesus, IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE TRIBULATION.
CHRIST SHALL REIGN FOR EVER AND EVER
11 v 15
Christ…shall reign for ever and
Which can only indicate that everything has been completed and all is now ready to usher in Christ’s Millennial or thousand year Kingdom.
THE TIME OF THE JUDGMENT OF THE NATIONS
We will consider the “Nations” in a later study, but for now it is sufficient to understand that these “Nations” are to be those that will people the earth in the imminent Millennial Kingdom. Their judgment is detailed in MATTHEW 25 v 31 – 46. We just cite the commencement but please read all.
25 v 31 – 32
the Son of man shall come in his glory,
and all the holy angels with him, then
shall he sit upon the throne of his
before him shall be gathered all
Surely such a neglected subject (when did you last hear a sermon on rewards and the loss or lack of them?) should have its own presentation and, of course, it will in later studies.
11 v 18
…give REWARD unto thy servants
the prophets, and to the saints,
and them that fear thy
name, small and great….
This giving of the REWARDS occurs exactly where one would expect to find it, at the time of the HARVEST, the TRUMPET and the RAPTURE and RESURRECTION just prior to the setting up of Christ’s thousand year Millennial Kingdom. A confirming harmonising scripture is:
CORINTHIANS 5 v 10
For we must all appear before the JUDGMENT seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
We also cite that most glorious and yet solemn of descriptions of the “Bema” or judgment seat of Christ, which again refers to the glorious REWARDS, but so solemnly to the “being saved yet so as by fire”, escaping hell by the “skin of the teeth”, but in all other respects, an experience of total loss. May God forbid that any of our readers should experience such an end.
CORINTHIANS 3 v 13 – 15
man’s work shall be made manifest: for
the day shall declare it, because it
shall be revealed by fire; and the fire
shall try every man’s work of what
sort it is.
any man’s work abide which he hath
he shall receive a REWARD.
any man’s work shall be burned, he
shall suffer loss: but he himself shall
be saved; yet so as by fire.
Having seriously considered these events and the evidences the scriptures present, the seventh last TRUMPET of John’s Revelation in Chapters Ten and Eleven, can only be the last TRUMPET or trump referred to elsewhere in scripture. The perfect harmonisation and identical comparative events preclude any other interpretation. It seems utterly baffling that any other trumpets at any other period (e.g. obscure references to Old Testament trumpets) could ever be seriously considered. Sadly it happens, hence our booklets, books and this website. To close, we present other scriptures from Old and New Testaments. All these scriptures confirm and none contradict our fundamental assertion that JOHN’S SEVENTH, LAST TRUMPET IN HIS PATMOS VISION DETAILED IN REVELATION CHAPTERS TEN AND ELEVEN IS THE LAST TRUMP BLOWN AT CHRIST’S RETURN TO SET UP HIS MILLENNIAL KINGDOM.
OTHER LAST TRUMPET SCRIPTURES
ISAIAH 27 v 13
And it shall come to pass in that day, that THE GREAT TRUMPET SHALL BE BLOWN…
This Old Testament scripture gives irrefutable proof of when the trumpet is blown, it is “IN THAT DAY”.
24 v 31
he shall send his angels with a GREAT
SOUND OF A TRUMPET, and they shall
gather together his elect from the four
winds, from one end of heaven to the
Presented just where it would be expected in MATTHEW 24 where it is an integral part of His “Coming in the clouds of heaven” and the “gathering together of His elect”.
THESSALONIANS 4 v 16 – 17
the Lord himself shall descend from
heaven with a shout, with the voice of
the archangel, and with THE TRUMP OF
GOD: and the dead in Christ shall rise
we which are alive and remain shall be
caught up together with them in the
clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and
so shall we ever be with the Lord.
This scripture embraces almost all of the advent features that we have considered together. No other scripture gives greater comfort to the saints of all ages, but especially those alive in earth’s darkest hour. We leave you with a final scripture from that glorious chapter of hope.
CORINTHIANS 15 v 51 – 52
I shew you a mystery; We shall not all
sleep, but we shall all be changed,
In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the LAST TRUMP: FOR THE TRUMPET SHALL SOUND, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
